OUR STORY

Basecamp IJmuiden is the first tiny house eco-resort of the Netherlands, now sporting 32 houses right next to the beach. The development of the resort is continuous and experimental. As we speak, we are busy creating a self-sufficient, energy neutral Basecamp. This means harvesting energy from the sun and wind, storing it in green batteries and other storage options and distributing it to the tiny houses using a smart grid. Basecamp IJmuiden is the blueprint for future developments of new Basecamps (inter)nationally. We are now working on new locations close to ‘Zadar’, Croatia and ‘Dar es Salaam’, the former capital of Tanzania.

THE INTERNSHIP

A large part of your internship will be spent with the front office team, taking care of guests’ reservations and payments, answering any questions guests may have, increasing guest experience through our online presence and as a host. Equally important is that you’ll be the link between the reception and departments of cleaning and maintenance, providing a helping hand when needed.

You’ll be the face of Basecamp IJmuiden; the person our guests go to for anything they may need. Daily operations will take a big part of your workload. Nevertheless, your input will be needed to further develop the Basecamp concept. All this to improve the quality of our guests’ stay!

TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Increasing guest experience.
• Being a host by guiding guests through theirBasecamp-journey; from beginning until after the end.
• Internal communication between departments.
• Handling guests’ payments and keeping track of otherguest-related finance.

THE IDEAL CANDIDATE

Has a level of higher vocational education, a friendly and open attitude, showing hospitality. Is very flexible and able to work proactively and independently as part of a small team. Problem solving skills, clear communication and a hands-on attitude are great traits in this position.
