The route offers a beautiful view over the dunes of IJmuiden aan Zee and IJmuiderslag. The special Bunker Route takes visitors past all the impressive bunkers and ends at the Bunker Museum.

Bunker museum

The Bunker Museum IJmuiden is hidden in a corner of the original Coast Artillery position Heerenduinen. From this position, the IJmuiden estuary was defended and with it the access to the port of Amsterdam.
The museum consists of 6 largely underground bunkers. In these bunkers you can feast your eyes on the enormous collection that is on display. This varies from a German canteen to a two-person submarine.
The Bunker Museum is an open-air museum, with five exhibition bunkers. Guided tours are regularly organized, both indoors and outdoors. For more information, visit the museum’s website:

Golf course The Dunes is a typical links course (the only public one in the Netherlands) in the middle of the Zandvoort dune area. There are some blind holes and the obstacles consist of water, deep pot bunkers, large dune slopes and sometimes unrelenting rough. And then there’s the wind that changes the track from day to day. In short, it is a very varied course where every golfer, beginner or low handicapper, will certainly find a challenge.
